The Tari Basin is isolated by geography, guarded by the massive bulk of the Muller and Karius ranges. This area is at the very center of mainland PNG, and was the last of the Highland provinces to be explored. It was not discovered until 1935, and still has been relatively untouched by the outside world. This waterfall is located in the pristine mid-montane rainforest, a lush densely-canopied jungle with vine bridges utilized to cross the river.
Order PrintsPNG is a snapshot in time, with the tribes of the Highlands seeing outsiders for the first time in 1930. Headhunting and cannibalism are traditional practices that were only recently subdued through heavy missionary influence. The rugged terrain maintained tribal isolation resulting in 800 unique languages and cultures. The few travelers who visit this amazing country are rewarded with an adventure of a lifetime.
